SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit. It is an identification code which is used to track a product for inventory purposes. It sometimes provides details about a product such as colour, size, fit and other variations.

Sellers can create their own SKUs.

Amazon FNSKU code is nothing but a unique code assigned to each product on the Amazon marketplace. It is done to clearly distinguish the said item from the millions of others already existing in the online market. Barcodes make it easy to identify individual products sold on Amazon across the world.

Are SKU and UPC same?

While many use the terms “SKU” and “FNSKU” interchangeably, they are actually very different. First off, an SKU (stock keeping unit) is strictly for internal use. A FNSKU is affixed to a product wherever it is sold in the retail market place. An SKU is the smallest unit of product or service.
