Deopshipping on the Amazon platform is becoming increasingly difficult. One of the main reasons why dropshippers are getting suspended a low Valid Tracking Rate (VTR).
Valid Tracking Rate is a performance metric that measures how often a seller uses tracking numbers for their orders. This is an important factor for Amazon customers who want to know the status of their delivery.
Sellers must maintain a VTR of 95% or higher. Failure to do so may result in Amazon suspending their selling privileges within a particular category after issuing a warning. VTR is calculated as the percentage of shipments that have a valid tracking number over a thirty-day period.
Valid Tracking Rate can be easily calculated by dividing the number of orders with tracking numbers by the total amount of orders in a specific ODR range.
Other common mistakes made by dropshippers, which negatively impact the Valid Tracking Rate include:
Not providing tracking information
Entering incorrect tracking numbers
Using special characters or punctuation in tracking numbers that Amazon can’t track
Entering incorrect carrier names
Carrier name entered is not associated with the tracking number
Updating/confirming tracking information after the order has been delivered
Using a carrier that is not integrated with Amazon
Confirming shipment before the package has been delivered to the carrier
Apart from maintaining your Seller Account in a good standing, other benefits of providing valid tracking information on Amazon include:
Protection from A-Z claims
Increases the likelihood of receiving positive feedback from buyers
Reduces the cost of lost orders
Improves conversion rates
