Watch out as returns are now called “Pending refunds” by Amazon!

There has been a major change affecting the FBM returns process, which was implemented into the Seller Central without any further notice to Amazon’s third party sellers.

Returns, which used to remain in “Authorized” status for days, weeks, months or years, unless the customer actually returned the merchandise are now referred to as “Refunds” or “Pending refunds” in a special new widget shown on the main Seller Central page.

The widget is incorrectly alerting sellers of countless refunds being pending, when in a fact, those are just authorized returns, many of which were never shipped by buyers.

There have been reports of returnless refunds being automatically issued for sellers, who never agreed to enroll into the Returnless Refunds programme.

My warning for all Amazon Sellers is to watch out and monitor your account carefully to identify any incorrect refunds.

Judging from the way how it looks like, I can imagine that soon, refunds for all returns on Amazon will be automatically issued, unless the seller appeals and provides evidence that nothing was actually returned.
