[whohit]Amazon planning to transform closed retail stores into Fulfillment Centers[/whohit]The largest mall owner in the United States has been in talks with Amazon.com Inc. to take over space left by ailing department stores. 

Simon Property Group Inc. has been exploring with Amazon the possibility of turning some of the property owner’s anchor department stores into Amazon distribution hubs, according to people familiar with the matter.

It has not been confirmed whether these would be also used to store inventory belonging to third party sellers as well.
