Amazon announced the launch of a climate-friendly program to help customers shop for sustainable products, as part of its commitment to be net carbon neutral by 2040.

Customers will now see products meeting specific requirements with a ‘Climate Pledge Friendly’ label, Amazon said in a statement.

Third party sellers are said to be incentivized to participate in the programme.

Amazon, which delivers about 10 billion items a year and has a massive transportation and data center footprint, had faced protests from environmental activists and was under pressure to take action on climate change.
