As you know, the INFORM Consumers Act took effect in the US on June 27, 2023. This law places obligations on online marketplaces such as Amazon to collect, verify, and disclose certain information about some third party sellers. In preparation for the new law, Amazon started contacting some sellers to complete additional verification steps, although the majority of Amazon Sellers were not impacted by this change in any way and not asked to go through additional verification.
Under the Act, high-volume sellers are defined as sellers who sell goods to US buyers and have sold 200 or more new items totaling more than $5,000 during a 12-consecutive-month period over the last 24 months on Amazon. This criteria applies to both US and non-US sellers.
Those, who were asked to undergo verification had banners appear in the Seller Central requesting immediate attention and compliance.
After significant difficulties were reported by numerous sellers struggling to comply with the INFORM Act Verification, Amazon extended the period for compliance until 7.July 2023. Failure to comply may result in the temporary hold of disbursements for your Amazon selling account, starting from that date.
If you are still struggling to have your information and documents verified, you should request a callback from the Account Health Team, after entering “INFORM Act” into the request form. This will connect you to an associate specifically trained to assist with INFORM Act verification issues.
Currently, Amazon is providing callback services with Account Health Team representatives 24/7 – including weekends and holidays, outside of their ordinary working hours.
Once your information has been fully verified, you will notice that the “Account deactivation warning” banner associated with the INFORM Consumers Act will be removed from your Account Health page.
