What do Amazon’s e-mails about Delivery Promise Gap mean?

Recently, Amazon started contacting their third party sellers by e-mail alerting them about a Delivery Promise Gap. This basically means that Amazon is pointing out to your shipping times being faster than advertised and suggesting that you shorted your offered handling / shipping time estimates.

The wording of their e-mails states:

We found that sellers in the US, on average, set Handling times and Transit times that are 45% longer than how long it actually takes to prepare and deliver them. Consequently, customers see longer and less attractive delivery dates and are less likely to buy. Closing this gap can help grow your sales.

Below is a summary of how many days of gap YOUR business had between actual vs configured Handling and Transit times in the last 30 days:

However, I would strongly advise you not to take their recommendations seriously.

Setting a longer handling time and shipping time will allow you to prepare for any potentional order processing or postal delays. This includes unexpected circumstances, such as weather extremes, postal strikes or family issues.

I hope you found this article helpful. Many Amazon sellers recently started trading stocks and crypto currencies, hoping to diversify their income, which is a very good idea with all the uncertainty which comes with the platform. For this reason, we launched a new Facebook group, Crypto Arbitrage Income (Bitcoin, Crypto, Altcoins, Blockchain, Trading) – feel free to join us and forget about the troubles of selling on Amazon for a moment!
