If you are a seller on Amazon, you might have noticed the confusion created by some unhelpful advisors on the Amazon Seller Forum, who are claiming that Amazon only accepts credit cards as a payment method for on file.
Ever since the Amazon marketplace was launched, both debit cards and credit cards were accepted as a change method for the payment of selling fees.
However, since Amazon used the general word “credit card”, some inexperienced sellers believed that it means that debit cards are prohibited, because Amazon doesn’t specifically state that debit cards are accepted as well.
Recently, Amazon started mentioning both debit cards and credit cards in all of their communication, to prevent confusion.
Here you can view a screenshot of the new wording of Amazon’s charge method rejection notice, where they are stating that “credit or debit card information registered to your www.amazon.ca seller account is invalid. This information may be invalid because the card has expired or the billing address may have changed.” and “To update your credit or debit card information, sign in to your seller account, click the “Update” button and follow the instructions.”
Here you can view a screenshot of the notice:
