Product updates and new listings will see errors after September 30, 2021 for ASINs that do not follow the new unit count / Price per Unit requirements

According to a recent Seller Central announcement and e-mail notifications, Amazon will be implementing a new unit count or price per unit requirement.

Starting September 30, 2021, Amazon will require all new and existing listings sold within the product types listed in the “price per unit requirements table” to include the unit count attributes, which were previously optional. Those attributes include value unit_count, such as, “5” and a type unit_count_type, such as, “Count”, “Foot”, “Sq Ft”, “Fl Oz” and, “Ounce”.

Most likely, what will happen is that all of your listings which don’t contain the above mentioned attributes will be search suppressed and alerts will pop-up in the Seller Central.

When you try to edit any of your listings, you won’t be able to submit any changes without entering the required fields.

New unit count or price per unit requirements for product listings

Hello,

Price per unit (PPU) information is used by customers to compare and evaluate products during their shopping journey. To deliver the best customer experience through a complete, consistent, and accurate set of details in our listings, Amazon will implement a new unit count or PPU requirement.

Starting September 30, 2021, we require all new and existing listings sold within the product types listed in the “price per unit requirements table” (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/PPU_US_HL/Table_US_v3.xlsx) to include the unit count attributes, which were previously optional. Those attributes include value unit_count, such as, “5” and a type unit_count_type, such as, “Count”, “Foot”, “Sq Ft”, “Fl Oz” and, “Ounce”.

The scope of this change includes any product-level data submissions, whether through excel templates, Seller Central, or XSD feeds. Existing ASINs without unit_count information or with incorrect values in the unit_count_type attribute will require this information when listings are updated. Any updates or new data submission that do not include this information will see errors and will be rejected.

For more information on these changes, go to “price per unit requirements.”
