New tracking information requirement in shipment-creation workflow

As previously announced in my prior article, starting 1. October 2021, Amazon will be requiring tracking information for all shipments sent to their warehouses outside of the Amazon Partnered Carrier program or Amazon Global Logistics.

This will significantly increase workload for Amazon sellers based outside of Amazon’s main marketplace countries, where it isn’t possible to purchase shipping directly through the Seller Central.

Additionally, Amazon will introduce a new metric called “missing tracking information defect rate”, which will punish sellers for failure to comply with this policy.

Here you can view an e-mail notice regarding the matter:

Here is a copy of the full wording in English:

New tracking information requirement in shipment-creation workflow

Hello,

Starting October 1, 2021, you’ll be required to provide the carrier name and tracking information when you create a shipment using a non-partnered carrier.

For more information, go to Carrier and tracking information requirements.

You’ll be able to provide tracking information in a new step, Tracking details, as a part of the Send to Amazon workflow. If you participate in Amazon Partnered Carrier or Amazon Global Logistics, we’ll generate the tracking information for you, which you can view in this step.

You can also provide tracking information via the Track shipment tab of the Shipment summary page.
With this change, you’ll no longer be able to manually update the status of your shipment using the Mark as Shipped button. Instead, your shipment status will automatically update to Ready to ship when you print labels, and then update to Shipped when you enter valid tracking information. For more information, go to Track your shipments: Shipping Queue and shipment summary.

Send to Amazon significantly reduces the number of steps to replenish FBA inventory. Sign up for live demonstrations at What is Send to Amazon? If you have questions, contact us at send-to-amazon@amazon.com.
