Retrieving reimbursements for warehouse damaged and lost Amazon FBA Inventory

Amazon FBA can help you grow your business on Amazon by giving you access to Amazon’s world-class fulfillment network and expertise.

When it comes to inventory reimbursement, FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) has you covered. If your inventory is lost or damaged while in Amazon’s fulfillment center, you may be eligible for a reimbursement.

Firstly, here are some tips to help you minimize the impact of lost or damaged inventory:

1. Keep good records. Be sure to track your inventory carefully so that you can quickly identify any items that are missing or damaged.

2. Notify Amazon as soon as possible. If you suspect that your inventory is lost or damaged, contact Amazon customer service immediately.

3. Follow Amazon’s instructions. Amazon will likely require you to submit a claim form and other documentation. Be sure to follow their instructions carefully to avoid delays in getting your claim processed.

4. Be patient. It can take some time for Amazon to investigate your claim and determine whether or not you are eligible for a replacement.

5. Keep a close eye on your inventory. Once you have received replacement inventory, be sure to keep a close eye on it to ensure that it doesn’t become lost or damaged again.

Many sellers in my Facebook group Amazon Seller Performance – Friendly Advice – Worldwide are posting and asking, why is it so difficult to obtain a reimbursement. Please note, that Amazon only ever compensates you for Distributor Damaged items if you are using one of the couriers which are partnered with Amazon.

Keeping track of your lost and damaged Amazon FBA Inventory step by step

Login to Amazon Seller Central and locate a report titled “Inventory Adjustments”.

In order to download this report in the Amazon Seller Central, visit:

Report > Fulfillment by Amazon > Inventory > Show more… > Inventory Adjustment > Download

When you see “Event Date”, choose the option “Exact dates” and setup the filter to show results from date you started selling until “one month back from today”. This is because Amazon is going to reimburse you after 30 days from adjustment happened.

Now, click on “Request .csv Download” button to download the report. It may take a few minutes for the report to get generated and become available for a download.

Once you obtain the Inventory Adjustment report, open it in Excel or Google Sheets. Go through the column “reason” by Amazon and delete any rows except for the ones with letters D, E, M & Q.

Here you can find the whole Amazon Help Page regarding Inventory Adjustments: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/external/200453260?language=en_US&ref=efph_200453260_cont_200213130

Once you manage to have your entire Adjustment Report filtered, provide the retrieved data to Amazon Seller Support and request a reimbursement for any items meeting eligibility requirements.

Go to: Help – Contact Us – Fulfillment by Amazon – Other FBA issue, and then you can fill the form based on the below template:

Make sure to pick the correct contact reason:

Please note that it is recommended to only include 10-15 rows per case, so the Amazon representative who is handling your case isn’t overwhelmed with the work and will be more likely to approve your request.

I would advise you to be patient and allow a sufficient time for the investigation. In case you are asked for additional information and documents, feel free to provide them.

I hope you found this article helpful. Many Amazon sellers recently started trading stocks and crypto currencies, hoping to diversify their income, which is a very good idea with all the uncertainty which comes with the platform. For this reason, we launched a new Facebook group, Crypto Arbitrage Income (Bitcoin, Crypto, Altcoins, Blockchain, Trading) – feel free to join us and forget about the troubles of selling on Amazon for a moment!
