The problem of having the product images of your listings suddenly changed is a common issue impacting Amazon Sellers. Listing hijackers are behind it. In this article, you will learn how to handle the matter.
Typically, Amazon listing hijackers will choose well-established listings with many Product Reviews, which are temporarily out of stock. However, sometimes they select active listings.
When hijackers take control over a listing, the images change to a completely different product, which can result in complaints from customers.
Here are my recommended steps, which you should take in such case:
1. Try submitting new images by clicking on the “Edit” button next to any affected listing in your inventory.
- Ensure that the pictures, which you are uploading/submitting are shaped as a square and maintain at least 1600 pixels on one side. Please note that the images need to have a white background. You can use our free background remover found here.
- If you aren’t sure what pictures were present prior to the hijacking, Google the ASIN. You should be able to find the original image indexed.
2.Keep submitting the new images every day, until they get approved.
When you attempt to update the images back, you may face a difficulty if you don’t have the listing control. The listing control is awarded to sellers based on their performance history and there is no guarantee that you will have it, regardless if you originally created the listing.
If nothing works, then proceed to the third step.
3. Open a case with the Seller Support – In Amazon Seller Central follow these steps: “Help” – scroll down – click on “Get Support” – Selling on Amazon – scroll down and click on “Or, browse for your issue in the menu” – Fulfilment by Amazon – Other FBA Issue – Other FBA Issue
- Place “Hijacked listing – please approve correct images” into the case title.
- Fill the text with something along the lines that listing was hijacked and images were changed to something else, which is not matching the title, brand and description (everything needs to be brief and clear).
- Then mention that you uploaded correct images and ask them to approve them.
- State that you also attached correct images as attachments of this case (don’t forget to attach these correct images).
4. Keep uploading/re-uploading correct images to the listing 2-3 times a day until they approve them.
5. Wait for Amazon to respond to your case.
6. Check to see if the images were updated.
7. If they still don’t get updated, re-open case, and keep insisting on image update until they approve them.
8. Don’t forget to report listing abuse using this link:

Finally, don’t give up if you keep receiving unhelpful templated replies and insist on update of the hijacked listing images.
