[whohit]Do you need help with trade terms codes? Find out what they mean![/whohit]Many Amazon sellers are still struggling to properly label their shipments or ask their suppliers to place a specific trade term on packages sent to them, which often creates unnecessary customs delays.
Our member, Austin Chen summarized information about the most commonly used terms for your information.
EXW (Ex Works) means your supplier or manufacturer would not assist you with anything except for customizing the product. So, you need to find a freight forwarder to help you do shipping from your supplier’s factory.
FOB (Free On Board) indicates that your supplier will help you send your shipment to a port. (Most suppliers will send to the port in their country). Also, you need to find a freight forwarder to help you ship to your destination. When you negotiate with your supplier about product prices you can let them give you the price of about FOB to your freight forwarder address.
DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) means that your supplier will help you do shipping from their factory to your destination, including clearing customs and paying taxes. They have their freight forwarder to help you arrange shipping. But there will be no transparency. Everything will be handled by your supplier. No one, except from them will know the actual status of the shipment.
