Bizarre wave of Velocity Review suspensions with requests for a Plan of Action

If you thought that you have already seen everything on the Amazon platform, wait until you see this. Things are still getting worse with the company introducing new ways how to punish their third party sellers and bogus excuses for account deactivation.

Following a recent wave of suspensions due to being related to another store which may not be used to sell on the site, the past week has been dominated by Velocity Reviews.

Velocity Reviews normally happen, once your Seller Account exceeds its hidden “velocity limits”, which are Amazon’s internal protective mechanism, taking actions on concerns of suspicious activity.

These sudden Velocity Reviews impacted thousands of well-established, longtime sellers who have been doing business on the Amazon platform for years and normally process hundreds or thousands of orders per month.

Affected merchants, who otherwise weren’t experiencing any issues with their accounts woke up to find them completely blocked across all international marketplaces and were asked to submit a Plan of Action.

Others received pre-enforcement phone calls from the Account Health Team, which gave them an opportunity to fill their appeal form within a short deadline and prevent account deactivation.

Here is an example deactivation notice from the recent wave of Velocity Review suspensions:

Everyone is asking – a Plan of Action for what? The affected sellers haven’t done anything wrong.

They are now being required to state the root cause of the Velocity Limits and Account Review policy, corrective actions taken or steps how to prevent this from happening again. Seriously?

Here you can view the appeal form in the Seller Central:

As a result of this, thousands of hard working sellers were suspended right in the middle of the busiest season of the year. And Amazon doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to respond, with many sellers desperately waiting for any feedback regarding their appeal for days or weeks.

This response is being sent to sellers who escalated, after not getting any reaction from Amazon following appealing:

The only way how to appeal this type of suspensions is by submitting the following information:

– How long you’ve been in business
– The sources of your inventory
– Anticipated monthly sales on Amazon
– The availability of items for shipping
– The address of any retail locations
– Links to other Amazon websites where you are actively selling
– Tracking information for recently dispatched orders
– Your VAT number

But doing so still doesn’t warrant you a speedy reinstatement.

  1. This is obvious anticompetitive and unethical behavior on behalf of Amazon. Report to your Congressman, the FTC, US DOJ, your state Attorney General and the Congressional Antitrust Committee. I have already reported to the parties. Also share your experience on Twitter, Quora, Facebook, Reddit and any other social media forum.

This just happened to me on 1/23, and I submitted the requested info 2 or 3 days after they asked for it. This is absolutely ridiculous, I’m at risk of losing everything.

So This Violation Has Definitely Evolved into a crazy suspension. There is a new PN for this suspension as well. I just spend a week and a half on this. Beware that this a suspension for basically anything you do wrong and this suspension is now one of the hardest ones to fight. I can provide help with POA per request!
