Amazon Europe is no longer blocking disbursements during verification due to a massive backlog

Starting several months ago, many established Amazon Sellers across the company’s European platforms were hit with additional Seller Identity Verification. Additional Seller Identity Verification is nothing unusual and happens from time to time specifically in Amazon Europe, however sudden changes in account activity can trigger one in the USA or Japan as well.

This time, sellers were asked to submit “Proof of Registration Statuses (by laws / articles of association). Submitted Statuses should contain Articles of Association and a share allotment document (statement of Capital/ Annual return/ share register).”

Here is a picture of an example sudden request for documents found inside an established Amazon Europe Seller Account:

The request for documents wasn’t accompanied with an e-mail or a performance notification, however a red banner appeared in the Seller Central demanding additional information and a yellow banner popped up on the Account Info page.

Disbursements were immediately paused across the entire Seller Account in all international Amazon Europe marketplaces, despite any product listings remained active.

However, sellers who submitted the requested information and documents did not receive any response for days, weeks and months.

They could still sell, but without getting paid for the orders fulfilled, not even for postage.

Requests for escalation addressed to Amazon Seller Support or seller-verification-enquiry@amazon.co.uk remained unanswered.

Funds were piling up in the Seller Central and affected sellers were extremely frustrated, not being paid for months.

Surprisingly, after the weekend of 16.-17.January 2021, all affected accounts had their disbursements re-enabled, despite they were still under verification, with warning banners in the Seller Central.

It is questionable, whether this was related to the current massive backlog or it is a permanent change of internal policy.
