Changes to the Amazon MX General Rules on Foreign Trade

[whohit]Changes to the Amazon MX General Rules on Foreign Trade[/whohit]If you are doing business on the Amazon Mexico marketplace, you should know that Mexico’s Tax Agency (SAT) published changes to the General Rules on Foreign Trade, which entered into force July 1st, 2020. They regulate among other things, tariffs, duties and the processes for imports into and exports from Mexico.

The most relevant changes that might impact your business is the change to Rule 3.7.5 which regulates the duties and fees applicable to goods imported into Mexico with a value of $1,000 USD (and its equivalent in MXN pesos) or less.

If you are active in the Remote Fulfillment Program (NARF), you do not need to make adjustments since they will be applied automatically whenever a customer purchases ASINs enrolled in this program.

However, if you are fulfilling your own orders, you should adjust your prices in Seller Central according to the changes above as soon as possible.

These changes will help avoid customer’s packages potentially getting stuck at Mexican customs or carriers requiring customers to pay the additional rate before being able deliver their packages.
