Amazon LIT1 Closure Update
On 20 November 2025, Amazon e-mailed their third-party sellers to say that one of their US fulfillment centers—LIT1—had been shut down temporarily due to a structural design issue discovered by the engineering firm responsible for the building. Amazon explained that, after being alerted to potential design flaws, they brought in independent specialists to carry out a full structural review. This examination is still underway, and because of the nature of the assessment, the site must remain closed until experts confirm that it is safe to reopen.
According to Amazon, the closure affects sellers with inventory stored in LIT1, and the company acknowledged that this disruption could interfere with ongoing business operations. They assured sellers that they are trying to resolve the situation swiftly and will notify them immediately once the building is cleared to operate again. Amazon advised sellers to check the Inventory Ledger to see exactly which units are currently housed at LIT1.
For inbound shipments that are already on the road to LIT1, Amazon said these will be automatically rerouted to an alternative fulfillment center so processing can continue without interruption. New shipments will not be sent to LIT1 at all during this period. Amazon also clarified that any products stocked in other facilities will remain available for sale as usual, and sellers can monitor their quantities and restocking suggestions through the Restock Inventory tool.
To help offset the disruption, Amazon has adjusted both capacity limits and ASIN-level restrictions for impacted sellers. Sellers who are worried about potential stock shortages were told they may ship additional units without penalty. Amazon also stated that they will keep an eye on sellers’ Inventory Performance Index scores to ensure the temporary closure does not negatively affect storage capacity metrics. Capacity information and IPI details remain accessible from the FBA Dashboard.
Amazon further noted that monthly storage fees or aged-inventory surcharges might still appear on seller accounts for stock located in the closed facility. If that happens, Amazon committed to reimbursing those charges within one month of the billing date.
The message concluded with Amazon thanking sellers for their understanding as they work through the building assessment and aim to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
| Temporary closure of the LIT1 fulfillment center Hello, We wanted to let you know that we have temporarily closed the LIT1 fulfillment center to perform a building assessment after the structural engineering firm that designed the building notified us of design errors. We’ve been working with third-party experts to conduct the building assessment and determine if we need to make any modifications. Like with any inspection, it can take time and, as a result, the building will remain closed until it is complete. Our records indicate you have inventory stored at this facility. We recognize this may have an impact on your business and are working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation. We’ll let you know as soon as we’re able to resume operations. You can review the current location of your inventory and confirm what’s stored at LIT1 using the Inventory Ledger report. If you have shipments in transit to LIT1, we’ll redirect them to another fulfillment center to process your inventory, and any new shipments will not be impacted. If you have available inventory stored in other fulfillment centers across our network, your listing will remain sellable. To keep track of your inventory levels and view replenishment recommendations, go to Restock Inventory report. We’ve adjusted your capacity limits and ASIN restrictions to account for this disruption. If you’re concerned that you may not have enough inventory to meet customer demand, you can send additional inventory. We’ll continue to monitor your Inventory Performance Index (IPI) to ensure that your capacity limits aren’t negatively influenced during this period. To view your IPI and capacity limits, go to the FBA Dashboard. You may see monthly storage fees or aged inventory surcharges associated with affected inventory during the closure period. If this occurs, we’ll issue you a refund within one month of the charge date. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. |
