Amazon Sellers are experiencing issues with having their phone numbers verified to comply with INFORM Act

Recently, Amazon announced that in their efforts to comply with US INFORM Consumers Act, they will be imposing additional verification processes on already verified sellers.

The INFORM Consumers Act takes effect in the US on June 27, 2023. This law places obligations on online marketplaces such as Amazon to collect, verify, and disclose certain information about some third party sellers. In preparation for the new law, Amazon started contacting some sellers to complete additional verification steps, although the majority of Amazon Sellers were not impacted by this change in any way and not asked to go through additional verification.

Those, who were asked to undergo verification had banners appear in the Seller Central requesting immediate attention and compliance.

However, since the launch, the whole process was met with technical issues and glitches.

Most recently, Amazon Sellers who already successfully went through all the required steps, including having a postcard sent to their address faced issues.

Their US phone numbers were not assigned with correct +1 prefixes, therefore they failed to pass the verification.

Please note that this is already an acknowledged glitch which is going to be remedied.
