How to submit WEEE registration numbers on Amazon and what does it mean?

This year, Amazon started requiring their third party sellers to submit WEEE registration numbers and alternatively threatening with a suspension.

If you sell Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) in Germany, you can now submit your registration number(s) (WEEE-Reg.-Nr.) for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regarding Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Otherwise, on January 1, 2023, Amazon will be legally obliged to deactivate your non-compliant listings.

How should I prove compliance with WEEE – EPR in Germany to Amazon?

Submit Registration Number(s) (WEEE-Reg.-Nr.) to Amazon for all brand-device type combinations listed on the compliance portals. Amazon will use the number(s) to validate that your company and all of your EEE listings have a valid brand-device type registration number.Once provided on Seller Central, it may take Amazon up to five business days to validate the number(s). Once validated by Amazon, the status next to your number(s) will change from “Submitted” to “Valid” or “Invalid + reason for invalid“.

What should I do if I do not have the registration number(s) yet?

Register as soon as possible as the registration process takes more than ten weeks. If there is a high volume of registrations, or your application is incomplete, unclear or incorrect, the processing time can be longer.
