Updates about submitting WEEE registration numbers on Amazon

Recently, Amazon introduced another requirement aimed to add another obstacle to the management of business of their third party sellers.

Sellers will be required to have a registration number (WEEE-Reg.-Nr.) to offer electrical and electronic equipment in Germany. The date from which Amazon will be legally obligated to check if you comply with the EPR requirements for WEEE in Germany has been extended from January 1 to July 1, 2023.

From July 1, 2023, Amazon will be legally obligated to deactivate your non-compliant listings.

Amazon will validate the WEEE-Reg.-Nr(s). you provide them with Stiftung EAR, the German authority for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

To prove your compliance to Amazon, register on Amazon Brand Registry and submit your WEEE-Reg.-Nr(s). on the Compliance Portal for all your brand and type of equipment combinations as soon as possible.

If you are not compliant yet, you can self-register with Stiftung EAR or sign up for one of the solutions Amazon has developed to help you meet your EPR requirements: EPR Services on Amazon or EPR Amazon Solutions.

WHAT IS WEEE RECYCLING AND HOW DOES IT BENEFIT THE ENVIRONMENT?

What is classed as WEEE waste?

  5. Lighting equipment
  6. Electrical and electronic tools
  7. Toys, leisure and sports equipment
